treeletic wins the Green Product Award 2022

With the bYo® yoga mat, treeletic wins its first sustainability award, the Green Product Award 2022.

Out of over 1,500 participants from 54 countries, we were selected as winners in the Sustainable Yoga Mat category.

Since 2013, the international Green Product Award has recognized products and services that excel in sustainability, innovation, and design.

bYo is the first yoga mat on the European market made of 100% cork (previously, only a thin layer of cork was used on the surface), offering complete sustainability and full recyclability. Furthermore, our bYo is manufactured in Portugal, which avoids unnecessarily long transport routes.

Cork is harvested from the bark of the cork oak; it is harvested for the first time at around 25 years of age and then every 9 years thereafter. A single cork oak can produce up to 1,000 kg of cork and live to be 250 years old.

A harvested cork oak absorbs up to four times more carbon dioxide, making it beneficial for both people and nature.

No tree needs to be cut down; the use of cork extends the lifespan of the tree, thereby actively contributing to climate protection and resulting in an all-around positive environmental footprint. All these positive characteristics are in complete harmony with our strict #iamtreeletic criteria.
