bYo® Pacific | Handmade 100% Cork Yoga Mat XL

Cork is a special natural material for which no tree has to be felled. By harvesting the bark, the tree can regenerate and subsequently absorb more CO2 (further information).

bYo brings back naturalness. It is a handcrafted yoga mat made of natural cork. This creates a beautiful texture on the mat. With dimensions of 190x68 cm, it also offers plenty of space, as the length in particular makes training very comfortable.

The natural cork is particularly robust and durable; there is no abrasion as with mats made of rubber materials with the bYo yoga mat. We offer a 2-year guarantee on this.

We use robust natural cork from Portugal without combining it with other materials such as TPE or latex, which makes bYo unique. bYo is the first yoga mat to be awarded the international Green Product Award for sustainability, design, and innovation.

Grip

The unique surface structure of the cork provides a pleasant and non-slip surface, as cork has a special property: its grip improves when wet. After just a few minutes on the mat, you will feel the strong hold. If you have very dry skin, you can also lightly dampen the mat before training (e.g., with a spray bottle, or otherwise with a damp cloth) to further increase the grip. Use your bYo barefoot or with non-slip socks. Focus on applying plenty of pressure with your hands and feet. This will help you experience the exercises more intensely and activate small stabilizing muscles. The result is a noticeably smoother flow during your sessions.

Cushioning

The bYo mat is characterized by its firm texture – and for good reason! A harder mat improves your body awareness and simultaneously gives you more stability in your asanas. You can feel the surface more clearly and align your posture more precisely.

Should you still require more padding, you can easily place a towel or blanket underneath. A bolster (a firm yoga cushion) is also excellent for additional support. These props are a proven practice in many yoga styles to increase individual comfort and adapt exercises to your own needs.

Roll the mat out completely once and firmly roll the ends in the opposite direction. bYo is robust and can handle that.

The bYo mat is robust and easy to clean! A quick wipe with a light cloth and water once a week is sufficient. If you have an intense workout session, simply clean the mat immediately afterwards. Avoid exposing the mat to direct sunlight for long periods and you will enjoy your bYo for a long time!
